This is the most frequently asked question. The simple explanation is that polished concrete is utilised inside, whereas honed concrete is used outside. Both honed and polished concrete are finished in the same manner. After grouting, densifying, buffing, and polishing, polished concrete can have a flawless, smooth, and seamless finish.
To make polished concrete more slip-resistant, it can be finished in a specific manner that increases the slip resistance grade, making it safer. If the slip resistance is a concern, we would advise a matte or satin finish instead of a high-gloss finish.

Polished concrete mixes are similar in colour and texture to coloured concrete or exposed aggregate. There are many polished concrete mixtures to select from, much like choosing a coloured concrete or exposed aggregate combination outside.

Matte, satin, and high-gloss are the three options for finishes: 

Matte: This is a popular choice, as it provides a natural-looking polished concrete floor, yet minimises slipping hazards. The resultant flooring has a subtle, low sheen finish.

Satin: A mid-range option with just the right amount of glitz—not too bright, but still modern and well-finished. This is a popular choice for both Northern Beaches residential and commercial properties.

High gloss: This is an excellent choice for making a statement indoors. High gloss is the way to go when it comes to a beautiful glimmering level of shine as well as highly reflective qualities.

For areas of around 50–100 m2, concrete polishing takes about five days. It’s a time-consuming operation that involves numerous steps, including the use of a penetrative sealer.

We can perform both the concrete polishing and installation of concrete as a singular contractor, rather than having to engage the services of two different businesses.
