Concrete Patio Contractors

Concrete Patios

A common application for decorative concreting is in patios. A well-designed patio can be the perfect place to relax or entertain guests. Through the use of our unique Con-Form formwork we can create unique shapes and designs that exceed the expectations of standard concrete formwork.

Exposed Aggregate Driveways

Exposed Aggregate Driveways

Decorative concrete is also a popular choice for driveways. It can add personality and style to your home while also providing a durable surface that can withstand heavy traffic. We can create various designs and even include different colours to create a unique look.

What is Concrete Honing

Concrete Pool Surrounds

One of the most popular applications for decorative concreting is for concrete pool surrounds. You can choose from a wide selection of decorative concrete mixes to create a unique look for your concrete pool surround that will complement your home's style.

All types of concrete can be used to create the ultimate pool surround such as honed, exposed aggregate, coloured or grey concrete. However, we find the most suitable finish for a pool surround is honed concrete. As one of the few installers of the unique PoolEdge System formwork in Sydney, we create a seamless pool edge and surround using only concrete.

The PoolEdge System formwork can be installed on either fiberglass or concrete pools. Our signature honed concrete pool surrounds are created in-house from start to finish.

CHOOSING A DECORATIVE CONCRETE MIX.

Here are the choices you have when you decide to go with decorative concrete installation:

Exposed Aggregate

One of the most popular options for decorative concrete is exposed aggregate. The process involves selecting an exposed aggregate mix from either of our two suppliers, Ablestone or Geostone. Once the concrete is installed we then apply a product called prime exposure and return the next day to expose the stones to high pressure clean of the area. The result is a textured, unique finish customised to meet your specific preferences.

Coloured Concrete

If you’re looking for an eye-catching finish, consider coloured concrete. This popular service involves adding your desired coloured oxides to the concrete mix. There are a variety of colours to choose from to suit the overall look you’re trying to achieve for your property.

Honed Concrete

With its contemporary appearance suitable for your home or business, you can’t overlook the low maintenance and durable solution that honed concrete provides. Specifically designed for outdoor spaces with safe and non-slip options available.

Things to Consider

There are a few things to consider when choosing the right decorative concrete mix for your project. The first is the overall look you’re going for. Do you want something sleek and modern, or are you looking for a more coastal finish? Secondly, what will complement the surrounding structures for example, the landscaping and the colours on the home?

If you’re unsure of what you want, our team of experts at Mason Concreting can help you choose the right texture and colour to compliment your house. We have years of experience in the industry, so we know what will look best if you’re stuck for choices.

THE BENEFITS.

OF DECORATIVE CONCRETING

Durability

Decorative concrete is exceptionally durable and can last for many years with minimal maintenance. It’s a brilliant choice for high-traffic areas such as driveways, walkways, and patios.

Low Maintenance

Once it’s installed, it requires very little maintenance. A quick sweep and hose down are usually all that’s needed to keep it looking its best. Sealing the area can also assist with longevity – another service that we provide.

Versatility

There are many ways to achieve a decorative concrete finish so that you can find the perfect look for your home. From sleek and modern to rustic and timeless, we have a style that will suit your needs.

Decorative Concrete Can Accentuate Landscaping

One of the best things about decorative concrete is that it can be included as part of an exquisitely designed landscape. A well-designed driveway, walkways, and patio can all be made as hardscape features to compliment soft-scape designs around the property.

FAQs.

At Mason Concreting, we can take care of the entire installation process in house. This includes any earthworks such as removal of existing concrete, installation of formwork and steel, installation and finishing of the concrete. We also ensure saw cuts are completed within 24 hours of installing the concrete to minimise the risk of concrete cracks. If honed concrete is desired, our team completes the honing a few weeks after the concrete is poured.
For coloured concrete and exposed aggregate, we highly recommend sealing the area to ensure protection and the longevity of your new concrete. The process is simple and normally takes two days. Sealing is usually completed 28 days after the concrete is poured to allow time for the concrete to cure properly.

Honed concrete is a smooth matte like surface as a result of the area being ground down by a grinding machine two weeks after the concrete is poured. Exposed aggregate is similar to honed concrete in that the stones are exposed however a textured surface is achieved by applying a special chemical called prime exposure which is washed off the next day after the concrete pour.

In both instances, a decorative concrete mix from either of our two suppliers, Geostone or Ablestone, is used during the concrete installation process and the overall look will depend on the desired mix selected.

Not only does decorative concrete look great, but it is easy to maintain. All that is required is a sweep and a light hose. For long term maintenance, a deep high pressure clean and reapplication of sealer can be completed every few years
There are a range of decorative concrete mixes available. Our two suppliers are Geostone and Ablestone. Contact us today to receive the latest range charts.
It will depend on the size of the area, but for around 50-100 m2, we generally allow four to five days to complete the process including any earthworks. If concrete sealing is required, this will take place at a later stage once the area has settled and this process will take one to two days.
Compared to other materials such as cobblestones and pavers which require a concrete blinding slab to be laid underneath, the cost per m2 is often lower. The exact price per m2 for decorative concrete will depend on the desired concrete mix.
For all of our concreting services, we are available to clients on the Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore, Sydney.
